Context

Like most people, Mehrsa Raeiszadeh disliked the process of buying and selling a car. From the time it took to tour dealerships and negotiate trade-in values to the hassle of transacting with strangers when selling privately, she knew there had to be a better way for people to extract the highest value possible from one of their largest assets. That better way became obvious when a mutual connection introduced her to auto industry leader Mike Wood. Together, they co-founded MintList, a Vancouver-based technology company focused on revolutionizing the auto sales industry. Launched in January 2022, MintList is an online marketplace and platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that enables consumers to buy and sell their cars for the best value directly from and to dealers. But determining the best value can be subjective and inconsistent depending on the seller and the buyer. According to MintList, 63% of people dislike the process of negotiating their car’s value directly with dealerships. “As a technology-first company, we wanted a solution that would seamlessly integrate the vehicle inspection process into our platform,” says Raeiszadeh. “This takes the stress off consumers’ shoulders, and helps dealers become much more efficient and scalable.”

Scalability and automation underpin the MintList platform. To build on this, MintList selected PAVE’s advanced inspection software to kick-off every consumer transaction. PAVE is integrated into the highly intelligent MintList system, which provides step-by-step guidance so the car owner can quickly and easily capture the condition of the vehicle being sold using their cell phone. PAVE generates a personalized condition report within minutes—picking up everything from scratches on the bumper to tire condition. Using the report and other information provided by the owner about the vehicle, MintList provides a valuation for the car, packages all the information, and markets the vehicle directly to a network of automotive dealers that compete for it in an online auction. Sellers have 24 hours to accept the highest auction bid on their vehicle. They can then either cash out or apply the funds from the sale within a week to trade up to another vehicle from any dealer on the MintList platform. Through MintList, dealers can acquire vetted inventory and increase their turnover more quickly and cost effectively.
